The Higher Education Department of the Government of Andhra Pradesh has rolled out a historic employment notification to fill 1,523 teaching faculty positions across 19 State Public Universities and the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT). This is the largest faculty recruitment initiative undertaken in recent years to address the structural vacancy gap and enhance academic excellence in state institutions.

For the first time, the state has launched a unified Common Recruitment Portal, allowing candidates to apply for multiple universities through a single, hassle-free application process.

Out of the total 1,523 posts, 1,244 are regular vacancies, while 279 are backlog vacancies reserved for SC, ST, and BC categories.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill all basic conditions under the prescribed university, UGC, or AICTE norms:

1. Educational Qualifications

·         Assistant Professor / Lecturer: A Master’s degree in the specific/allied subject with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates). Additionally, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC/CSIR or AP-SLET/SET, OR possess a valid Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC Regulations.

·         Associate Professor & Professor: Requires a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline, a strong academic/publication profile, and requisite years of teaching/research experience as mandated by UGC regulations.

·         Assistant Librarian: Master’s degree in Library Science / Information Science (55% marks) along with NET/SLET/SET or Ph.D.

2. Age Limit (For Assistant Professors)

·         General Category: 18 to 44 years.

·         Age Relaxations: 5 years for SC / ST / BC / EWS candidates (up to 49 years); 10 years for PwBD candidates (up to 54 years).

 

Selection Process

The comprehensive selection matrix ensures meritocratic shortlisting through a multi-stage process:

1.      Initial Screening: Validation of applications and academic records.

2.      Screening/Written Test (CBT): Conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) for Assistant Professor/Lecturer tracks where applicants exceed a 12:1 ratio per vacancy.

3.      Contractual Weightage: Eligible weightage marks will be allocated to existing contractual faculty serving in AP state universities based on their active years of service.

4.      Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates (at a 4:1 ratio per post) will be called for final evaluation and interview.

·         Overseas Citizens of India (OCI): USD 50

Pay Scale Structure

·         Assistant Professor: ₹57,700 – ₹1,82,400 (UGC Academic Pay Level 10)

·         Associate Professor: ₹1,31,400 – ₹2,17,100 (Level 13A)

·         Professor: ₹1,44,200 – ₹2,18,200 (Level 14)

 

How to Apply

⚠️ Important Note for Past Applicants: The state government has explicitly clarified that any older university recruitment notifications issued during 2023 stand withdrawn. All candidates who applied previously must submit fresh applications on the new portal.

1.      Visit the official unified common portal at apuiversitiesrecruitment.apcfss.in.

2.      Complete the primary registration to generate your login credentials.

3.      Fill out the single comprehensive application form, choosing your preferred universities and disciplines.

4.      Upload clear copies of necessary academic documents, certificates, and research papers.

5.      Pay the application fee online before June 8, 2026 (5:00 PM).

6.      Print the submitted application, attach self-attested copies of certificates, and mail/courier the physical package to the respective university destination so that it reaches on or before June 15, 2026.
