The Secret of a Contented Heart

An old man named Manmohan sat by the river, watching the sunset. A young traveller approached him and asked, "Sir, you look so peaceful. What is the secret to living so that there is no regret at the end?"

Manmohan smiled and picked up three things from the ground: a stone, a seed, and a small flower.

"Life is like these three," he said. "Most people spend their lives polishing the stone—their wealth, titles, and houses. But at the end, the stone is cold and heavy. It cannot go with you."

"To avoid 'sorry' in the last days, you must plant the seed. The seed is kindness and relationships. When you help others and love deeply, you plant trees that will give you shade when you are old."

"And the flower?" asked the traveller.

"The flower is the Present Moment," Manmohan replied. "If you don't stop to smell it today, it will wither. Most people are 'sorry' because they lived in the 'tomorrow' and forgot to breathe in the 'today'. Forgiveness, gratitude, and love—these are the only essentials."

Key Essentials to Avoid Regret:

o   Relationships over Riches): Invest in people, not just     things.

o   The Power of Now: Don't wait for a "perfect" time to be happy.

o   Forgiveness: Carrying a grudge is like carrying a heavy stone. Let it go.

o   Purpose: Do something that helps someone else.
